Distint By Design

One of my guilty pleasures outside of fashion is home decor. I guess that’s technically fashion for your home, so it fits. There is nothing much more satisfying than seeing a look come together. This year we’ve been putting the finishing touches on our home and we’re almost to the finish line.If you have ever done this, you know renovations can take anywhere from months to years. We’ve been in our home now for two years and like I said, we’re almost finished. We’re closest to being done in our kitchen. Due to the eyesore that the last homeowners called countertops, our kitchen was recently renovated. Just try and imagine rust speckled turquoise laminate countertops complete with a copper backsplash. Those had to go! While we were at it, we also replaced the rust colored concrete floors with dark hardwood. We were not really thinking about new appliances because ours were standard and nice-ish and I hadn’t seen anything unique or standout until recently!When Café Appliances reached out about a partnership that would include new fashionable/customizable appliances, of course I was excited because who doesn’t love new stuff? But I was blown away once I took a look at the Café line. I fell in love with the hardware, the signature copper cuff on the handles and the matte finishes. I never thought about purchasing anything other than stainless steel appliances but after seeing the Café Collection, I may never go back.I was even more excited to learn about these appliances in person. I had the privilege of spending a couple days learning all about these chic appliances in Louisville, KY.We began our trip with a beautiful breakfast with some of the Café team and then headed out for the GE Appliances for a Factory Tour (the brief one). It was really lovely being able to meet the people that assemble these appliances. They take pride in their work and it totally shows!We continued to the offices and got a thorough explanation of each appliance, and they are awesome. I’ve never been so enthralled with appliances before (when did this happen?) but Café has ignited an appliance passion inside of me.  There were features galore including app controlled/assisted-cooking and my favorite feature, the built-in Keurig!We headed up to the offices where we met with some of the creative team. Because fashion and style influenced the concept of this line, we were challenged to create a mood board to compliment the appliance finishes we chose.At this point in the weekend I was undecided on whether I should choose the Matte White or Matte Black appliances.  I decided to just start, create, and worry about making a decision later.  When I saw a piece of leopard fabric I had to add it to my board. I started adding black and gold accessories to compliment the rich tones in the leopard. I started to think about my living room and remembered the light blue couch (which will be replaced with a navy couch soon). I saw a piece of navy paper with subtle gold accents and knew it belonged on my board.What do you guys think? As I remembered all of the rich tones in my home I eventually decided on the Matte Black appliances with the Brushed Bronze hardware and can’t wait to see how they complement the space.The Café Appliances are as beautiful as they are functional.
