It's so important to stay active while pregnant and It's also important to stay cute. I love the workout apparel from Lucy Activewear because the quality is amazing and they offer a variety of fun prints. Can you tell that I love a printed pant? I always say when you look better, you feel better and that applies to activewear also. I was excited to work on this post with Lucy Activewear because it gives me an opportunity to talk about working out while growing a human. The positives definitely outweigh the initial struggle getting up. There are tons of benefits including an increased amount of energy, feeling less bloated, and decreasing your chances of getting gestational diabetes. Also women who exercise during pregnancy gain less weight and recover quicker than those who don't. Can someone say snapback game strong! Here are some tips for staying active while preggo.
- Keep doing what you're doing. You can exercise like you normally do as long as it's not a contact sport. There aren't many limitations when working out but now is not the time to try new activities like running, bootcamps or biking. Before I realized I was pregnant I attended the bootcamp that I had been going to but it almost took me out. I was so confused why it was so much harder that day, lol.
- Stay hydrated. You should be drinking more water than you normally drink anyway, but especially while working out. You should drink a water bottle for every 20 minutes of activity.
- Walk, Swim, Yoga. These activities are great for pregnant women. I try to walk for at least 35 minutes...when i do. I've done a little swimming which relieves the new added pressure that your body is under. A prenatal yoga class is great for beginner or experienced yogis. Whatever you do don't over do it. It's not the time to leave the gym drenched in sweat. That means you did too much.
- Stay cool. If it's hot outside do not even try a outdoor workout. If that's the only way for you to get a workout in go early in the morning or at night. It's really important to regulate your body temperature while pregnant. You don't want to overheat and cause your baby to overheat also.
- Ask your doctor. As always first consult your doctor about all activities you plan on doing. In some cases, exercising is a no-no so you want to clear your workout plans with your doctor first.
